I just wanted to expand a little on the directions. I live in Ayer so I thought it might be helpful to give you some landmarks to help. When you exit 495 at exit 30, turn left off the ramp and you will follow 2A for approx 10 minutes into Ayer. Follow 2A around the rotary then as you pass through downtown Ayer at 111 there will be a Mobil station on your left and the fire station on your right. You will then pass the Devens Shopping Center then the Verbeck entrance to Devens on your left. Shortly after that you will come to the river. There is a brick building on the right just before the river. The river is right at the town line. Actually you enter Harvard just before the river and exit it just after the river and enter Shirley.

One idea would be Pawtuckaway in Raymond NH. A nice lake with lots of Islands. Also there is a rental place for canoes and kayaks on the road to the park. I have a kayak, so I am flexible.
