Potomac River Watershed Clean Up

Join the Jaycees as we help with the 20th Annual Potomac River Watershed Cleanup! We will be working from the mouth of 4 Mile Run to Daingerfield Island.

Volunteers are needed to pick up trash and illegally dumped items to keep the river clean! Throw on some old clothes, bring a pair of gloves, and prepare to have fun!

We are meeting at 8:30am in the left parking lot of the Washington Sailing Marina on Daingerfield Island. It would be great to have some additional help, so if you?ve got a friend or two who could join us, please bring them along. I would suggest bringing a pair of work gloves, and wearing clothing that you don?t mind getting dirty.

The address of the Marina is 1 Marina Drive, Alexandria, VA 22314. Daingerfield Island / Washington Sailing Marina are on the George Washington Parkway between Old Town Alexandria and National Airport. Note that the Parkway becomes Washington Street as it goes through Old Town. Exit the Parkway at the Daingerfield Island / Washington Sailing Marina, which will be on the River side. Then, bear right where the driveway forks. After bearing right, park in the lot on the left.

Registration with Mr. Rock Kulisch, who is leading this endeavor through the Alice Ferguson Foundation, will be at 8:45am on Saturday, April 5, 2008. Jaycees volunteers will meet in advance at 8:30am, and approach as a group.

When you get into the parking lot, find the Jaycees: we will have a blue banner up. We?ll gather as a group, then sign up with Rock, who will have our supplies. He will give some guidance and get us going. We?ll work at the cleanup from 9:00am to 12:00pm. After the cleanup, our official itinerary will end, but we plan to get together at Mango Mike?s on Duke Street that evening for a party that will include an acoustic music act.
