Announcing a new event for The Alexandria Jaycees Meetup Group!
What: Mardi Gras Parade When: Tuesday, February 5, 6:30 PM Where: Click the link below to find out! Event Description: Fat Tuesday is coming up! (Feb. 5) Do you wish you could finally see a Mardi Gras Parade? Well, the Alexandria Jaycees are offering an opportunity to you that doesn?t involve airfare or hotel rooms. Arlington sponsors an annual Mardi Gras parade that runs from the Courthouse area to the Clarendon section, and we?re going! I would suggest that you metro over, as parking will be scarce and limited to this popular event. Jump on the orange line and get off at the Clarendon metro stop. When you come out, make a right at the first cross street you see (N. Highland Street), and walk down one block to the Eleventh Street Lounge (1401 N. Highland Street- across from Mr. Days and next door to Clarendon Grill) to grab a bite to eat and a cocktail with other Jaycees. Food specials offered: Flat Bread Pizzas (4 different types) - $5 Petite Cheese du jour - $5 2 Mini Sirloin Burgers - $5 10oz Choice Ribeye Steak - $11 available til 10 p.m These are available til 7 p.m. They also have a fantastic selection of fantastic beers, martinis, and cocktails you won?t find anywhere else. Around 7:30 or so, we?ll walk out to the street to find a spot to watch the Mardi Gras parade, which will start at 8 p.m. The fabulous Ballou HS Marching Band will be participating, along with many other fun floats and groups. New Orleans has donated 5,000 lbs. of beads to this event. How many can YOU catch? Festive attire or costumes encouraged, but not required. To confirm your intentions to participate, contact Sharon at slawtv@evolvetech.com, or to just meet up to watch the parade, call her cell at 703-585-6881 to find everyone.
