My biggest passion, by far, is getting people together and helping them connect and communicate in an effective and productive way. I started these discussion groups to give men and women an opportunity to ask questions and offer insights and feed back to common dating/relationship related issues. Show up for the mixer portion and meet new people. Then join us for the sit down group discussion and speak your mind and get the answers you need to date and mate more successfully.

Really, this is two events in one. It's a social gathering as well as an insightful, town hall-type open forum.

Meeting men and women in Manhattan is a job in and of itself, right? So why don`t we all pool our resources so we can help each other find the relationship that we want? Let's get together , mingle for a bit and then have a meeting of the minds and open the lines of communication between the genders.

Discussion will be moderated by an experience facilitator.

We'll allot 20-30 minutes per topic. Feedback is allowed and encouraged from the members of the audience as well as the panel. We'll try to get to each topic below:

TOPIC 1:
Dating & Race - Are people as open minded as we think? How do our families and cultures/traditions affect who we choose as a mate?

TOPIC 2:
Friends With Benefits - What are the pros and cons of these types of relationships? How does a person find one? How do you avoid getting attached?

TOPIC 3:
Who asks whom out? How do men feel about women making the first move? How do women feel about it? Is there really any validity to the "men are hunters" idea?

TOPIC 4:
Dating & Finances - . How do you feel about men being expected to pay on dates? Can a couple survive if the woman makes more than the man? Why do women need to see that a man is financially secure?

TOPIC 5:
When is the right time to take things to a physical level? First date? Fifth date? Do men think less of a woman who has sex in the first date or first couple of dates? Is there still a double standard in place?

TOPIC 6:
The Break-Up - What's the best way to end a relationship? What should be expected (a phone call, an e-mail or a face to face conversation) after 1 date? 2? 5? How come some people just disappear and never say anything at all?

TOPIC 7:
Online Dating - How has online dating affected dating in general? What's up with the kid in the candy store mentality people have where they're always looking for something better?

Who attended?

    •  Execution, location and topics were great. The crowd was fun and very interactive. Christan throws a great do.
    •  I had attended Moxie's "Date Smarter" workshop and had heard about some of the things that was covered in this discussion and so I didn't find it particularly useful :(
    •  Christan, you kept conversation on track and on topic, really quite impressive, appreciated and good! You're good at this. The acoustics in the place were a little tough but maybe that could have been remedied by pushing tables closer together if others also thought it a problem. I also personally thought it might have been nicer to be closer to other people in the room and not pressed against the outermost walls. Forgive me if I'm stating petty details or the obvious. Just puting it out there. Anyway, I enjoyed it and look forward to attending other get togethers. Markian
