You'll get invited to our Meetups as soon as they're scheduled!
Psst...ever listen to that voice? You know, the one that tells you to let loose and have some fun? Sometimes you have to put fun on ignore but...when enough is enough and you just can't stand it anymore...good friends and good times may be what is needed to break the chain of monotony. While we can't promise the sun, the moon or even the stars, what we can do is make sure that everyone feels welcome and has a good time on our watch!
Through posting on the message board, our active members have initiated friendships and perhaps even been offered a momentary escape from the doldrums we call the work week.
Some guidelines/rules about the message board:
As you all may have discovered, there are very few rules on the board and this might be the right time to talk about them. The very first rule is always, always, always be polite to others. We strongly discourage "bad mouthing" and/or gossip of anyone...honestly; the message board is truly not the place to vent frustrations with any other member. Plus, it just comes across as mean and childish. So, that's the first no-no.
You may also have discovered that we don't delete messages and/or threads but if a topic is questionable, we will shut it down in our own way. Remember, none of your Organizers, Carolyn, Debi, Jeanne, Jeff, Lance or me, are paid to organize this group. We reap our payment through being part of a successful, fun atmosphere where our friends love to get together. While there are politics involved (with other Organizers and other groups), we do try very hard to keep the stress we endure, from seeping through the veins of the group and reaching our general membership. We take it serious and most of the time we are successful but there are times when we react like mere mortals (who knew)! Our main goal is to keep things real and most importantly, keep things light and fun! So far, I think we have achieved that goal.
Another teeny tiny rule, we do not permit anyone to advertise their business, their individual Meetup group or even their groups' events within our group. Oh of course if another member is attending an Extreme event, we all talk about the calendar of the other groups and make plans to attend events. Personally, I would consider it rude to post an Extreme event and/or advertise the Extreme group on another Organizer's message board. It's just wrong but that?s just me. However, everyone should be aware that if another Organizer approaches us through email or otherwise, and requests that we post a joint event, if it doesn't conflict, we will consider it and most of the time, we post it. After all, many of our members belong to other groups and we strive to be cooperative with everyone.
**We request that everyone post a photo & tell us your idea of extreme. A photo will allow the organizers to recognize you at future events and will also allow our members the chance to recognize you as well.
We will see you soon!
