NYC Area Social Meetup for Shy/Reserved Young People (18-30)

One of the things I've found with all of the meetups is there really isn't a group for reserved people who open up after a while of getting to know others. Wouldn't it be great to join a group where you meet one or two people and gradually meet with a larger group instead of walking into a meetup with a large crowd you don't know?
