About Women of Color Networking and Friendship Circle

Hello All, My name is Kahina King and I am new to the Chicago area. I moved here without having any close friends that live here and I'm finding it hard to meet positive women like myself. I am a career woman so my profession requires a lot of my time, but I would like to create a new group of friends that are interested in having fun, experiencing new things and making life long friends. I decided to start this meetup because a friend of mine started one in Charlotte and it was a success! So, please join me in making this sister meetup another success!


The purpose of this group is to connect Women of Color in the Chicago area. (Newcomers to the area are welcomed and encouraged to join) Women of color often face challenges both professional and personal that sometimes only other women of color can understand. This group will be a social arena in which we can discuss, vent and laugh about the many trials and tribulations we face as women of color. This group will also be a networking arena for those interested in changing and or starting new careers and those with small businesses. Each month we will have a least one activity ranging from: volunteerism and lunch, dinner meetings, book readings and discussion and home invasion nights. (One group member volunteers there home for drinks and pot luck meals). Other suggestions are encouraged. This is a new group thus it can develop into whatever its members decided. I am new to the Charlotte area and could not find a group this nature anywhere. So sign up and become one of the pioneering members. Hope to meet up soon!!
